Honda recently announced the 2020 CRF1100L Africa Twin. Let's get into the specs. To meet Euro 5 emissions standards, Honda has bumped the 998cc at 94hp to 1084cc and 101hp at 7100rpm to equip their new Africa Twins with. The new engine has updated ECU settings, throttle body, increased valve lift and new alloy linings rather than steel saving a small amount of weight. The new 1084cc engine will be mated with your option of a manual or DCT transmission.

In addition, the there are tons of new features with the electronics package. Honda has equipped both the base model and Adventure Sports model with a brand new touch sensitive TFT display console. The new unit will include Apple Car Play. A convenient feature to see who is calling and accessing maps. The bike will come with cornering ABS, wheelie control, traction control and rear wheel torque control. DCT models will have a lean angle sensor to determine the proper gear changes in different riding situations. There will be a total of four riding modes from the factory: Urban, Gravel, Off-Road, and Tour.

The chassis has also been changed and lightened with less heavy metals. It now involves an aluminum bolt on subframe for easier repair jobs,

The Adventure Sports model has a larger fuel tank at 24.8l (6.5) compared to the base at 18.8l (5 gallons). For model year 2018 and 2019 Honda included a longer suspension setup to the Adventure Sports model which limited riders who were under a certain height to be able to operate the motorcycle. For the 2020 model, Honda has eliminated the longer suspension setup for the Adventure Sports model and made it the same height as the base with the option of a low or high seat. The Adventure Sports will also include heated grips and a 12v socket as standard equipment and a 5 five stage adjustable windscreen. There were tons of riders complaining about tube tires and Honda has finally listened. The Adventure Sports model will now have tubeless tires and guessing Honda will provide this on the base model as well. Another notable big change is an electronic suspension setup from Showa called the "EERA". Off-Road, Soft, Mid, and Hard will be suspension presets you can select with the Showa EERA.

Honda hasn't announced pricing on both the base and Adventure Sports model yet but we're expecting it to be an addition $700-$900 price increase on the base from previous year and an addition $1000-$1500 for the Adventure Sports model depending on the package you select.
