Hi everyone! Africatwin.org is in it's early stages of planning a rally in the summer of 2018. We wanted to get a general idea of what riders like and want in a motorcycle rally. Some of the questions that come to our minds are:

When in the summer of 2018 would be a good time to do a rally?
How many days/miles can you do?
How do you feel about doing light off road riding?
What is your riding capability?
Would you be interested in gift bags?

We know we have riders from all over the US and the world on this forum and wanted to see if they have favorite routes they'd like to share.

That's it for now and hope to see this thread grow. Looking forward to everyone's opinions and suggestions. We maybe missing a few things but will iron them as we go along. Thank you again!

Depends on destination, if mountain passes are involved late summer might be better, otherwise it might be more comfortable early summer.

How many days/miles can you do?
A week, plus the attached weekend days.

How do you feel about doing light off road riding?
Prefer heavy off road, bike camping is better than hotels.

What is your riding capability?
Intermediate.

Would you be interested in gift bags?
Unnecessary.

Prior to August, since we are planning a 30 day trip to either Ireland/Scotland/Wales (first choice) or Nova Scotia/Newfoundland/Prince Edward Island (second choice) in August.

How many days/miles can you do?
Not many days, unfortunately, since we will be using all vacation time for the above. The longest and most expensive trips we will be able to do the rest of the year are 3-day weekends with camping. Unless it is fairly local, we probably can't go.

How do you feel about doing light off road riding?

Light off-road riding is fine. Camping definitely.

What is your riding capability?

Off-road beginer / on-road intermediate

Would you be interested in gift bags?

Not needed, but I would certainly buy a T-shirt or patch if there was one :)

When in the summer of 2018 would be a good time to do a rally?
My work schedule is pretty flexible, any time is good for me.

How many days/miles can you do?
3-5 days of riding

How do you feel about doing light off road riding?
I'm comfortable on gravel and light off road shouldn't be an issue.

What is your riding capability?
Advanced beginner! There are some very talented riders on this forum.

Would you be interested in gift bags?
Don't need swag, but t-shirts or event stickers would be cool.

I’m up for whatever.
We should ride, a lot. Camp out. Hang out. And ride some more. 3 days are usually the best and have the best turn out. (You guys might be cool, but if you have to hang with me for week, you’ll prolly regret it. Lol).
T-shirt and stickers are always nice.
As for riding, we should stick to a moderate skill level to accommodate everyone and should ride multi terrain as the bike is intended, but I’m up for whatever

The dirtier the better.

Any plans on doing a 2019 AT rally?
1- as many days as you have for me( i dont have that thing in my brain that lets me quit)
2- the more off-roading the better1!
3- intermediate-advanced depending on who is judging
4- gift bags not necessary
