Yup, made holding the cover without smearing the gasket sealer all over the place quite challenging :)

Filled the engine with oil and went for a test ride and so far so go, no obvious leaking!

I think if I had to do it again I'd lay the bike on it's side, apply the sealer to the engine side and use the guide studs that I mentioned (didn't use the studs when I did it). I think that might be the ticket.

Great idea! Thought about apply to engine but was nervous I'd drop a glob of sealant into the engine and not notice!

I am definitely removing my crash bars the next time I have to do any engine work

Looks like I Will be able to test the above ideas at the next oil change, rode 350 miles today and oil is still seeping, darn!

It is less than before but want it to be completely stopped.
