Hello - Bought my new 2017 AT 3 weeks ago - spent a lot of money on accessories and protection items.
I am east of Vancouver in Chilliwack. Always could enjoy riding with other AT owners in the area if there are any.
I am a day trip kind of rider at present.
Lots of experience working on motorcycles and other mechanical equipment.
I used to be a Honda Power Products dealer and Marine Mechanic and Power Plant Engineer.
    Courtney.
    :).

Good luck with your new bike.
Lots of good roads out by Chehalis and Harrison and beyond. Perfect bike for that.
I'll be riding mine through the Chilcotin this summer. Can't wait!

    Welcome to the group.

What crash bars did you end up with?

I went to Vancouver and back yesterday. Stopped at Abby -- Whatcom Road for gas and a taco :)
I'd like to have someone to ride with. I know quite a few places to go around Chilliwack.
    Feel free to call my Internet phone number. [ 587 ] 200 - 5143

I'm two minutes from the taco stop I need a week or two to stretch my legs on the bike. I haven't been riding for a few years and never on a dual sport. I'll shoot you a message. Coffees on me if you're the tour guide.

Sure - get familiar with it or any new motorcycle.
My first week with my AT was an experience for sure.
I have been riding for 41 years and never really had a stoppage.
I started riding in 1977. I have owned 19 motorcycles so far and ridden many others.
I have had no tickets, no crashes, or insurance claims, no demerit points off my car or motorcycle license during those years up to today.

I have ridden in temperatures from 115 F to minus 35 F. Ridden in heavy torrential rain, 8 inches of fresh snow one New Years eve on a 1982 B.M.W. R100, deep fog, over ice patches, through one tornado which was about 1 mile away, ridden in winds up to 60 mph, through forests and deep sand and mud. Motorcycles ranged from a trials bike, 4 cyl. cruisers, 2 BMW adventure bikes, one V-Max drag bike, Honda VTR1000, Honda CB 650, CR500 open class 2-stroke motocross, XL250R, XR650L, one BMW touring bike, Honda NC 750X etc. I have forgotten quite a few of the past bikes.

I have instructed at 2 different motorcycle safety schools.

I never pretend to be a know-it-all or an expert but I make it home :)

    Courtney.

That's a resume right there!!! I'll finally be getting on the steed in the next few days. I'm scouting out places to practice some low speed stuff too. I'm definitely a novice rider in comparison, but I'm a wise one...:D

Search YouTube for >> Fast Eddie’s Motorcycle Fun << he has a lot of good instruction videos. Slow speed maneuvers - sharp turning from a stop - many more. His information is good. There are very few good motorcycle instruction videos on YouTube.

And remember you are messaging someone who has taught at 2 different motorcycle safety schools - if you want a live observer and assistant. ;) Sillywack is not too far away.

We are of one mind. I have seen a lot of his vids actually. I'll contact you next week. I'm coming of vacation and back to work in a few days. Maybe we can work out some instruction. Would be greatly appreciated.
